Session overview

This session will assess whether the trading-related measures proposed under MISP can help deliver more integrated, competitive and attractive EU securities trading markets, identify which measures are likely to have the strongest impact, and discuss whether further policy measures may be needed beyond MISP and the MiFIR review to enhance the integration and competitiveness of EU trading markets.

Points of discussion

1. Market integration

What are the main remaining barriers to a genuinely integrated EU securities trading market and can the MISP measures relevant to trading address them in an effective way? Which MISP measures are likely to have the strongest impact on the integration of EU trading markets

2. Competitiveness

Will MISP make EU trading markets more competitive internationally and attractive for issuers, investors and market participants? Are additional measures needed beyond MISP to strengthen the liquidity and depth of EU capital markets? Could more be done to leverage the contribution of all ecosystem participants to market depth and liquidity?
