Speakers
Session overview
This session will assess the pace and scale of digital transformation in the EU financial sector, the main drivers and obstacles to further digitalisation, whether the EU policy, regulatory and supervisory framework is fit for purpose, and what further actions may be needed to support the scaling of digital finance and address critical technology dependencies.
Points of discussion
1. Digital transformation in the EU financial sector: is the EU keeping pace?
What is the pace and scale of digital transformation in the EU financial sector, which technology applications are progressing fastest and which have the greatest transformative potential? What factors are enabling or hindering the scaling of digital financial services across the EU? Are financial institutions, fintechs and technology providers contributing effectively? What new challenges are emerging as digitalisation scales?
2. EU digital finance framework: is it fit for purpose?
Does the EU digital finance framework provide a sufficiently coherent and proportionate basis for supporting the scalable deployment of digital solutions while appropriately mitigating risks? What further regulatory, supervisory or market-led actions are needed to enable digital financial services to scale across the EU? How should technology dependencies be managed, and what contribution can CADA and the European Tech Sovereignty Package make to this objective?
