Session overview
As the MISP package moves towards the final phase of negotiation, this session will examine the main pending issues regarding the proposals to strengthen capital-market supervision and simplify regulation, and the clarifications needed to make them effective, workable and consistently implemented.
Points of discussion
1. Supervision of significant trading venues and post-trading infrastructures
What remains to be clarified regarding the PEMO regime and the supervisory model for significant cross-border CCPs and CSDs to achieve more consistent and efficient EU-level supervision, while ensuring that the proposed set-up is workable and effective?
2. Supervisory powers, convergence tools and regulatory simplification
Can the horizontal MISP measures on supervisory convergence, regulatory agility, simplification and burden reduction deliver more consistent supervisory outcomes, faster and more predictable regulatory processes, and lower compliance burdens? What clarifications or adjustments are still needed to ensure an effective implementation of these tools?
