In the specific context of the recent consultation launched by the EU Commission on securitisation in the EU, the session is aimed at finding out the main the sticking points, which prevent an effective take-off of the securitisation market in the EU and clarifying their rationale. Outlining the appropriate ways of analysing the current regulatory framework in order to unveil the obstacles encountered by both issuers and investors would be useful. In addition, building a macro view of relevant financial markets should help to tune the necessary regulatory evolutions and make them consistent with the regulations concerning similar instruments across the board. Finally, the panellists will try to work out the possible avenues for lifting those impediments.

Points of discussion

  1. What should we expect from the EU Commission Targeted Consultation?
  2. What do we need to change in the policy framework based on the EU Commission Targeted Consultation?
