Objectives
This session aims to explore how the experience of the Nordic capital markets and the best practices developed in the region can contribute to building a more dynamic and integrated European capital market, and how the specificities of the Nordic model can be better reflected in the EU policy agenda. The first objective is to examine the key features, strengths and integration dynamics of the Nordic capital markets and assess to what extent these are shared across the region and can serve as examples for broader EU capital market development. The session will also assess how well the EU’s regulatory and policy framework, particularly the Savings and Investments Union (SIU), leverages Nordic best practices. Panellists will moreover be invited to discuss areas where EU policy may need to be adjusted from a Nordic perspective, and how Member State-level actions can complement EU measures and support the successful implementation of the SIU.
