Objectives of the session

The session is therefore intended to take stock on the current practices of the Insurance sector regarding the assessment and mitigation of sustainability risks including those related to specific new sustainability-related insurance products and even greenwashing issues. The priority evolutions of the supervisory and regulatory framework will also be discussed taking also the global perspective.

Questions to be addressed

  1. How are insurance undertakings managing sustainability risks in the EU and globally? What are the lessons to be drawn from the most recent stress-tests/surveys… in the EU and globally?
  2. What is the impact/role of the regulatory framework regarding the role of the insurance sector on sustainability issues and to mitigate related risks? What are the priorities on these issues of the EU Commission in the context of the revision of Solvency II and of the IAIS to address these challenges?
