Speakers
Objectives
The session will seek to clarify the actual performance and risk profile of the insurance sector globally, and to identify the main challenges ahead, be they macroprudential or climate-related, taking into account what has already been done to address them. The specific benefits and challenges of the international risk-based standards being rolled out globally will also merit some comment. The possible (global or regional) implications of current trends towards a reduced policy focus on climate-related transition and efforts towards regulatory simplification and, more generally, a possible global trend towards fragmentation, in particular of regulatory and supervisory frameworks, will also be touched upon.
Points of discussion
- What is the true performance and risk profile of the insurance sector globally and what are the main macro-prudential or climate-related challenges ahead?
- What are the specific challenges related to the global implementation of global insurance standards?
- What are the global challenges and ways forward to address the possible trends towards regulatory and supervisory fragmentation and complexity?
