The objective of this session is to discuss the main on-going trends in the European asset management market at the product, distribution and back office levels and whether these evolutions are appropriately addressed by on-going EU policy initiatives. This session will also tackle pending questions concerning the AIFMD and ELTIF reviews and the consistency between the AIFMD and UCITS directives.

This panel will not cover financial stability issues and tools or ESG and sustainability aspects, which will be discussed in other sessions of the Eurofi Forum.

Points of discussion

  1. What are the main on-going trends in the EU asset management market at the product, distribution and back-office levels? What are their potential benefits for customers and industry players and for supporting the CMU? Do they create any challenges? What further optimisations are needed?
  2. Do on-going policy initiatives in the capital market and investment fund areas in the EU appropriately support these on-going evolutions at the distribution, product and back office levels? Are any changes to or recalibrations of existing fund frameworks needed or additional measures? Should there be further harmonisation or convergence between the AIFMD and UCITS frameworks?
